Ingredients

  • Medium pears 3
  • Star anise (phoolchakri) 2
  • Ginger, cut into thin strips 1 inch
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • Sugar ½ cup
  • Cinnamon (dalchini) 1 inch

Methods

  • Peel pears and rub them with some lemon juice. Halve them and remove seeds. Cut off a thin slice at the base to make it flat so that they can be placed vertically in a pan.
  • Heat 1½ cups water in a non-stick pan on high heat. Add sugar, remaining lemon juice, ginger, cinnamon and star anise and cook stirring continuously till you get a syrup.
  • Add pears, reduce heat and cook for 10-12 minutes.
  • Transfer into serving plates and serve drizzled with remaining syrup.
