Peel pears and rub
them with some lemon juice. Halve them and remove seeds. Cut off a thin slice at the base to make it flat so that they can be placed vertically in a pan.
Heat 1½ cups water in
a non-stick pan on high heat. Add sugar, remaining lemon juice, ginger, cinnamon and star anise and cook stirring continuously till you get a syrup.
Add pears, reduce
heat and cook for 10-12 minutes.
Transfer into serving
plates and serve drizzled with remaining syrup.
