Baked bread and butter pudding – quick to make and tasty too

Ingredients

  • French bread 1
  • Butter 5 tbsps
  • Orange marmalade 5 tbsps
  • Milk 2 cups
  • Sugar 2 tbsps
  • Eggs 2
  • Vanilla essence 2 tsps
  • Raisins ½ cup
  • Nutmeg powder ½ tsp

Methods

  • Preheat oven to 180º C.
  • Slice the French bread loaf, trim the edges. Apply butter on one side of all the slices and orange marmalade on the other side. Cut the slices into triangles and arrange them in a baking dish.
  • Heat milk in a non-stick pan and transfer into a bowl. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla essence and beat well.
  • Sprinkle raisins and nutmeg powder over the bread pieces in the baking dish. Strain the egg-milk mixture over the bread slices.
  • Keep the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Bring the dish out of the oven, spoon the pudding into serving bowls and serve.
